Commonly asked questions:
๑ï What should I do if the wrap starts peeling?
Peeling is fine as long as the tattoo isn’t exposed. You can trim the edges to avoid this.
*If the wrap is leaking anywhere, please remove it. Leaking = opening, opening = trapped bacteria.
๑ï Should I use sunscreen on my tattoo?
After it’s healed, yes, definitely! While healing, avoid anything other than unscented lotion.
๑ï Can I use Aquaphor?
I do not personally recommend Aquaphor; however, it can be used in place of lotion, in very minimal amounts. Only apply enough to fully rub into the tattoo; leaving a shiny layer can extract the ink from your skin.
๑ï Can I use A&D or Petroleum?
NO. These will block your pores, leading to a higher risk of infection.
๑ï Should/can I rewrap my tattoo with plastic wrap after taking the wrap off?
No. Rewrapping risks trapping bacteria & can irritate the tattoo/surrounding skin.
How to ensure proper healing through aftercare:
๑ï Leave adhesive wrap on for 1-3 days.
You may notice an “ink sac” fill up in the wrap; this is normal, and you can keep the wrap on.
๑ï Remove the wrap in the shower, under warm water to release the stickiness.
๑ï After removing, clean twice a day, every day, for 2 weeks.
Wash with Dial or antibacterial soaps & moisturize with Lubriderm or unscented lotion as needed.
๑ï Avoid drying the fresh tattoo with used towels.
Let skin air dry or use a paper towel to dry before applying lotion.
๑ï Do not over-moisturize your tattoo.
This can lead to heat rash/irritation. If it’s noticeably dry or flaky, moisturize; if not, you’re good.
๑ï Avoid the following for 2-3 weeks: tanning beds, swimming, baths, long steamy showers, prolonged sun exposure, scented body washes and lotions, itching the tattoo, and picking at the tattoo.
